As a board certified music therapist, my ambition is to bring awareness to the power of music in medicine. Upon receiving my bachelor’s in music therapy with a psychology minor from Berklee College of Music, I completed my 1200-hour internship at Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC). I had the pleasure of learning the fundamentals of music therapy at the acclaimed McLean Hospital, Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH), and multiple programs through the Community Music Center of Boston. From these collective experiences, I am looking to further my skills in music therapy with focuses on neuroscience and clinical research.
I am lucky to have been exposed to all kinds of music from a young age, growing up in the California Bay Area. This passion led me to devote much of my time towards my high school choir where I enjoyed growing as a musician and developed leadership skills, with acknowledgment of the Director’s Award for dedication in musicianship and service. Having an extensive family background in medicine, helping those in need became second nature. I started volunteering at multiple non-profits for youth music education, as well as assisting and caregiving for those who are neurodivergent and chronically ill. After learning my interests could be combined and shared, I began an exciting career path in music therapy.
